CHICAGO — A shooting in Back of the Yards left a 19-year-old man dead and a woman wounded, police said.

At 1:59 p.m., the man and the woman, who is also 19, were inside a car in the 5200 block of South Peoria Street when a white sedan pulled behind them and someone inside started shooting, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was hit in his head and was pronounced dead on the scene. He was identified as Erik Lacey, of the 5100 block of South May Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Lacey was pronounced dead at 5:35 p.m.

The woman was hit in her back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody in the incident.
