JEFFERSON PARK — Police are looking for a man they say tried to lure a teenage girl into his car in Jefferson Park Thursday afternoon, according to a community alert issued Saturday.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, police said, the girl was walking eastbound in the 5800 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue when the man pulled up his car, yelled "come here" and tried to grab her arm. When she resisted, he followed her at a distance until she reached the intersection of Luna Avenue and Catapala Avenue, when he again got out of his car and tried to lure her.
After the girl "again rejected the offender's advances," the man got back into his car and sped off westbound on Catapala, according to the alert.
Police described the suspect as a black man in his late 20s, about five feet 10 inches tall, clean-shaven with a thin build and dark complexion. At the time of the incident he was wearing a tan knit cap, a blue knit sweater and jeans.
Police said the man was driving a red Jeep Cherokee with dark-blue license plates that contained the letter "K."
