HUMBOLDT PARK — Cafe Marie-Jeanne, a Parisian cafe-inspired restaurant, has opened at the corner of Augusta and California.

The restaurant, which opened Wednesday, is currently serving breakfast and lunch during the initial soft opening in the former KnockBox Cafe, 1001 N. California Ave.

The restaurant will begin offering dinner later this month.

Mike Simmons, the executive chef who formerly cooked at Lula Cafe and Rootstock, said the restaurant had a solid rush the first lunch hour and he was looking forward to settling into Humboldt Park's growing restaurant scene.

Take a look at the 56-seat interior and a preview of what's to come at the cafe/restaurant/coffee shop/bar/retail shop.
