HUMBOLDT PARK — Two men were wounded, one critically, in separate shootings within 200 yards of each other in Humboldt Park Thursday, police said.

First, at 1:57 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking out of a house in the 1100 block of North Monticello Avenue when someone ran up and shot at him multiple times, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in critical condition with gunshot wounds in his face, torso and both arms, Sedevic said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Later, around 8:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was walking in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized after being treated for gunshot wounds in both his legs, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for either shooting, Sedevic said.
