UPTOWN —  When FLATS Chicago began rehabbing the former Lawrence House, they promised to restore an indoor pool that hasn't been used since the 1930s.

This week, Michael Salvatore, owner of Heritage Outpost, a coffee shop and bike shop that will be the first floor tenant of FLATS No. 1020, shared a picture of the pool, which hasn't been uncovered in 50 years, he said.

This underground pool has not been uncovered for 50 years... Can't wait to take a dip this summer. #Uptown #Flats #Heritage

Jay Michael, Cedar Street co-founder, has said the building at 1020 W. Lawrence Ave. "is in the epicenter of Uptown’s re-emergence as an entertainment, arts, and cultural district."

The building will also offer a mix of hotel-like amenities, including a 6,000-square-foot fitness center, lobby bar, 350 modern apartments and a 2,460-square-foot lobby.
