MORGAN PARK — The lighting and sound equipment for the stage at George F. Cassell Fine Arts Elementary School in Mount Greenwood will be upgraded with the proceeds from a fundraiser set for 7 p.m. Jan. 22.

The Taste for the Arts benefit will be held at the Beverly Arts Center at 2407 W. 111th St. in Morgan Park. Advance tickets to the wine and craft beer tasting event cost $40. Tickets at the door are $45.

Attendees will be able to sample up to 15 different wines and beers along with food from a pair of private chefs and other catering services. As for the beer, tasting selections include samples from Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas Brewing Co., local favorite Horse Thief Hollow and others.

Music will be provided by Original Retro — a band made up of eighth-grade students at Cassell. Other bands include Leadfoot, The Pirate Electric and Yer Mother’s Lovers.

The school at 11314 S. Spaulding Ave. in Mount Greenwood has 402 students in kindergarten-eighth grade. The entire school comes together twice annually for performances on its stage.

Organizers of the 21-and-older fundraiser hope that the improved lighting and sound equipment will be in place for Cassell's spring performance of “The Lion King.”

To further fund this effort, a raffle will be held at the benefit. All attendees will receive one raffle ticket as part of their entry to Taste for the Arts. Additional tickets cost $5. For more information, visit the school's website or call 773-354-6941.
