AUBURN GRESHAM — A 20-year-old man was shot early Thursday morning in the shoulder while riding in a car on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway, police said.

At 12:10 a.m., the man was riding near the 79th Street exit when he felt pain in his shoulder, according to Sgt. Jason Bradley, an Illinois State Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Roseland Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Bradley said.

Neither the passenger nor the car's driver saw where the gunshot came from, Bradley said.

Police said all lanes were shut down for about 35 minutes before being reopened.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, Bradley said.
