Dunning, Portage Park, Jefferson Park Robberies Spark Alert from Police

PORTAGE PARK — Far Northwest Side residents should be on alert after five recent daytime robberies in Dunning, Portage Park and Jefferson Park, police said Wednesday.

In each incident, two men approached their victims from behind and used force to rob them, police said.

The incidents happened in the:

• 6000 block of West School Street at 11:10 a.m. Dec. 19
• 5400 block of West Montrose Avenue at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 22
• 5400 block of West Berteau Avenue at 12:50 p.m. Dec. 27
• 5600 block of West Gunnison Street at 1:10 p.m. Dec. 27
• 3300 block of North Long Avenue at 6:40 a.m. Dec. 29.

Police are looking for one or two African American men between the ages of 20 and 30 in connection with these incidents. The men were described as being between 5 feet, 8 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing between 130-160 pounds. They wore dark hooded sweatshirts with dark pants and a black baseball cap or black knit hat, police said.
