BRIDGEPORT — Do you own property in the neighborhood? You might want to mark your calendar for Jan. 14.

That's when Ald. Patrick D. Thompson (11th) and Chicago Police will host a "Crime Abatement Workshop" for landlords and property managers in the 11th Ward.

After a rash of burglaries in the area, the workshop aims to teach building bosses how to better work with police and community leaders to improve safety at their properties.

Running from 6:30-8 p.m. at Deering District headquarters, 3120 S. Halsted St., the workshop will touch on personal safety, management tips to reduce crime and common fraud schemes used against landlords.

To register, call the local CAPS office at 312-745-5900 or email william.townsell@chicagopolice.org.
