Humboldt Park Murders Drop in 2015, Overall Crime Too

HUMBOLDT PARK — The total number of murders in Humboldt Park fell in 2015 compared to 2014, while the overall crime rate also dropped.

There were 18 homicides in Humboldt Park in 2015, according to the Chicago Police Department's data portal.

That was down from 26 in 2014, but still higher than the 2013 total of 14.

According to DNAinfo analysis there were 107 shootings in the neighborhood in 2015, down from 119 in 2014. There were 85 in 2013.

It should be noted the official Humboldt Park community area that is recognized by the city and police department differs slightly from the actual neighborhood boundaries. See the map below for the official boundaries.

Aside from homicides, violent crime overall in Humboldt Park has was down .03 percent in 2015 from the previous year. That includes assault, battery, sexual assault, homicides, kidnapping and robberies.

The total number of all reported crimes was down 13.5 percent year-over-year.

Over the past five years overall crime has dropped by 29 percent through the end of 2015 while violent crime fell by 24.5 percent, according to city data.
