ANDERSONVILLE — Gluten-free diners will soon have a new option in Andersonville.

Defloured, a bakery specializing in gluten-free treats, is slated to open at 1477 W. Balmoral Ave. next to Vincent. The Defloured site formerly housed Hoppin' Hots and Great Lake Pizza, which closed in January 2013 and was once proclaimed to have America's best slice of pizza pie.

"Defloured believes that everyone has a right to dessert, whether you have celiac disease, or for whatever reason you require or desire a gluten-free diet. Our goal is to make the happiness of a chocolaty brownie and scrumptious chocolate chip cookie available to everyone," according to the Defloured website.

The bakery featurse a vast repertoire of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, bars and whoopie pies.

Defloured products are sold at select Whole Foods in Chicago, Orland Park and Schererville, Ind., but the bakery's main production facility is at 2409 N. Western Ave., according to its website.
