MORGAN PARK — Police are searching for a person of interest in the case of a murder and arson that occurred in September 2015.

Around 12:40 a.m. on Sept. 14, firefighters arrived at a one-story home in the 10840 S. Morgan St. after reports of a loud explosion, Jeff Lyle, deputy district chief of the Chicago Fire Department said at the time.

Shortly before crews extinguished the fire at 1:22 a.m., they found the remains of a man, later identified as 48-year-old Timothy D. Lawrence. It was also discovered that his car, a black four-door 2004 Buick LeSabre with Illinois license plate V617710, had been stolen.

Morgue records showed he had been killed by a gunshot wound to the head, and officials launched a homicide and arson investigation.

Police released a video and photos of a person of interest in the case on Sunday. "The below pictured person was capture on video prior to the crime on the front porch of the victim's home," police said in a statement.

Anyone with information should contact police at 312-747-8271.
