CHICAGO — A man died and six other people were hurt following shootings between New Year's Day and Saturday morning, police said.

The man, 31, was shot to death while sitting in a car in Englewood Friday evening, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Earlier, a woman was shot while riding in a car on Lake Shore Drive on the Far North Side, Sedevic said.

• Most recently, Sedevic said, a 21-year-old woman was shot in her back in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue in South Austin around 6:30 a.m.

The woman was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition stabilized, Sedevic said.

Police said they could not provide any additional information on the shooting, as the woman was being uncooperative with authorities.

• Around 4:50 a.m., two men were shot in a "possible drive-by" just two blocks away from the Austin shooting, in the 500 block of South Lavergne Avenue, Sedevic said.

One man, 28, brought himself to Loretto Hospital after he was shot in his back and his left armpit, Sedevic said. The other man, 34, was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds in his back and his abdomen.

Both men's conditions were "stable," Sedevic said.

• About a half hour earlier, a man was walking in the 3500 block of West Lake Street in East Garfield Park when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Sedevic said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in his leg, Sedevic said.

• Around 3:15 p.m. Friday afternoon, a 42-year-old man was shot during an armed robbery in the 2800 block of West 59th Street in Gage Park, Sedevic said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for gunshot wounds in his upper stomach and forearm, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, Sedevic said.

Though police said all victims had conditions that "stabilized," they did not clarify which conditions they were in or if any of the injuries were life threatening.
