COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Jevonti Davis got annoyed at a fellow Blue Line "L" rider — even though the man was in another car, prosecutors say.

So he switched trains cars and stabbed him near the heart, prosecutor allege.

It happened at the Jefferson Park "L" station on Monday night, prosecutors said.

Davis, 36, was riding the Blue Line when he got annoyed at a man sitting in an adjacent car, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto alleged during a bond hearing Thursday.

Davis pulled the emergency lever, left his train car and began shouting obscenities at the 39-year-old man, asking, "Why the f--- are you looking at me?" and "What are you about?," according to Scaduto.

During a confrontation, Davis stabbed the man in his chest near his heart at the Jefferson Blue Line station, prosecutors said.

The victim was treated and released from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, court records show.

Davis continued riding the "L" to O'Hare Airport, where police arrested him about 10 p.m. Monday.

According to an arrest report, Davis walked up to police and said, "I was looking for you guys to turn myself in. It was self-defense. He came up on me." Davis was carrying a bloody knife, and his clothing matched the description of the Jefferson Park attacker, prosecutors said.

Davis, of the 400 block of North St. Louis Avenue, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Cook County Judge Donald Panarese Jr. on Thursday ordered him held in lieu of $300,000 bail.
