BRIDGEPORT — Looking for something to do on New Year's Eve without leaving the neighborhood? How about a place to grab a mimosa and doughnuts to nurse the hangover?
Here's a look at some of the New Year's specials you'll find in Bridgeport this week:
The Duck Inn, 2701 S. Eleanor St.
Named one of the best restaurants in America by Esquire magazine, The Duck Inn will host a New Year’s Eve party with a killer tasting menu. For $75, the party runs from 5 p.m.-3 a.m. and features small plates of lobster with 7-year aged risotto, foie gras torchon, beef shortrib and dark chocolate espresso bombe. After you roll out of bed the next morning, you can head back to restaurant for a special New Year’s Day brunch from noon-5 p.m. Make reservations for both shindigs here.
Maria's Packaged Goods, 960 W. 31st St.
This neighborhood haunt will host its annual “Brew Year's Eve” party Thursday night. You’ll find some local brews on tap, including Half Acre Golden Tuna, Revolution Straight Jacket, Half and Stone’s bourbon-barreled Arrogant Bastard ale. All drafts will be discounted $1 — and there will be a champagne toast at midnight. Chicago DJs Scrabblor and Dookie Blaster are set to play funk, soul and boogie tunes all night long. The best part? There’s no cover.
Nana Organic, 3267 S. Halsted.
The neighborhood’s top-notch organic eatery will offer a delicious NYE menu with lobster bisque, citrus creme fraiche, avocado fries, chipotle-lime aioli, chili-rubbed seared ahi tuna and pickled radishes. That’s just a small nibble of the menu. For dessert, go for the pistachio-rum cake, tres leches or flourless chocolate cake. Get your table here.
Buffalo Wings and Rings, 3434 S. Halsted
How about a more laid-back New Year’s celebration? Buffalo Wings & Rings will be serving up $10 beer buckets from 4-8 p.m. If you stick around later, you can enjoy $2.50 pints of Coors Light and Miller Lite all night.
Fabulous Freddies Italian Eatery, 701 W. 31st St.
Have you brushed up on your trusty hangover cures for the post-New-Year’s fallout? No? Well, don’t fret. Scrape together a few bucks from that pile of loose change at home and head over to Freddies New Year's Day. There, you can get a half-dozen doughnuts and a large coffee for $3. If you somehow make it to the counter before 11 a.m., you’ll get a free doughnut with anything you order. If your New Year's resolution includes a diet plan, beware.
