HUMBOLDT PARK — Nancy Franco Maldonado, the wife of Ald. Roberto Maldonado, died Tuesday.
Nancy Maldonado, a mother of three, had been fighting a "courageous" battle with cancer, according to an announcement from the alderman's staff Tuesday afternoon.
"Words of condolence fail to express the deep sadness that has overcome the Alderman, their three children Rene, Roberto Jr., and Raquel, and Nancy's parents at this time," the statement from the 26th Ward office read.
"Nancy was a devoted wife and mother but she was also an active volunteer in the community. Now our prayers, fond memories and photographs are what we have to remember Nancy's time here on Earth."
A visitation for Nancy Maldonado will be held Jan. 6 at Alvarez Funeral Home, 2500 N. Cicero Ave., from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A funeral will be held Jan. 7 at Maternity BVM Church, 3647 W. North Ave., at 9:30 a.m.
