CHICAGO — What's your favorite Chicago extinct business?

DNAinfo asked readers to provide input to that question on Neighborhood Square. Commenters provided a series of interesting responses regarding legendary late businesses of the past.

NSQ user "joseph-briestansky" chimed in with: "Gerties ice cream, Colony Theater, Dove Candies and Little Eddies Hot Dogs."

User "Bookman" noted: Kroch's and Brentano's Bookstores.

User "chiexpat" mentioned several, including "Ole's Chili, Highlander Ice Cream, R&S Records, That Steak Joynt, Pipers Alley and Leader Stores."

"pcohen" invoked a sweet tooth by mentioning "I miss Ideal Candies on Clark St."

"edward-m-bury" was more neighborhood specific with the post: "I vote for any of the independent businesses along and near North Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park before the hipster invasion. To single one out: Sophie's Busy Bee restaurant on Damen Avenue under the L tracks."

And "CHI-TOMMY" went to the wheels, writing: "Jim Moran the Courtesy Man. One of my uncles bought a Hudson Hornet ....."
