Man Found Shot to Death in Austin Christmas Morning, Police Say

AUSTIN — Detectives are conducting a death investigation after discovering a 22-year-old man shot to death in Austin Friday morning, police said.

Around 8:30 a.m., police responded to a call of shots fired in the 5500 block of West Monroe Street, where they found the man lying unresponsive with a gunshot wound in his head, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Kylan D. Collier, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 8:39 p.m., according to county records.

Invesigators are trying to determine whether the death was a homicide, Pacheco said.
