2 Killed, 7 Wounded in Shootings Since Friday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — Two men died and nine other people were wounded in citywide shootings between Friday morning and Saturday morning, police said.

Of the 11 people shot, six were in the Austin neighborhood, according to police.

Around 11:35 a.m. Christmas Day, a 20-year-old man died after being shot in his thigh in Englewood, police said.

Earlier, around 8:30 a.m., police found a 22-year-old man unresponsive in Austin with a gunshot wound in his head, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Around 5 a.m. Saturday, police shot and killed two people during a domestic dispute in Austin.

• Most recently, around 6 a.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was shot in his abdomen in the 400 block of North Pulaski Road in West Garfield Park, according to preliminary reports from police.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Pacheco said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 10:40 p.m. Friday night, a 19-year-old woman was riding in the passenger seat of a car in the 4800 block of West Lake Street in Austin when she was struck in her back by a bullet, Pacheco said.

The driver of the car took her to West Suburban Hospital, where her condition "stabilized," Pacheco said. Police could not say the extent of her injuries.

Police said at least one person in the car was a documented gang member.

• At 9:10 p.m., a 49-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in the 7000 block of South Martin Luther King Drive in Park Manor, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Jackson Park Hospital, Pacheco said, where the man's condition stabilized after he was treated for a graze wound in his neck.

• Around 7:30 p.m., a 37-year-old man was walking with a group in the 1600 block of North Leclaire Avenue in Austin when someone jumped out of a nearby car and shot at him, Pacheco said. 

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition with a gunshot wound in his upper left thigh, Pacheco said. Police could not say the extent of his injuries.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 4:40 p.m., a 45-year-old man was walking in the 2000 block of North Keystone Avenue in Hermosa when someone shot at him from a passing car, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Norwegian Hospital, Pacheco said, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in his lower right leg, Pacheco said. Police could not say the extent of his injuries.

• About 10 minutes earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot in his stomach during a domestic dispute in the 1600 block of East 70th Street in South Shore, Pacheco said.

Police could not provide the man's condition.

• Around 12:40 p.m., a man was shot in his arm while he sat in a parked car in the 5800 block of West Wabansia Avenue, Pacheco said.

The man ran to the 1300 block of North Mason Avenue, where he flagged down a citizen who called the police, Pacheco said. Paramedics on scene found the man in good condition.

The man was later brought to Loyola Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Pacheco said.
