Man Charged for Hijacking Car in Loop, Running Over Woman's Foot: Police

THE LOOP — A man was charged for hijacking another man's car in the the Loop Tuesday, according to a Wednesday police notice.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, a 30-year-old man was sitting in a parked car in the 200 block of West Lake Street when Dimitrious Johnson, 38, allegedly opened the driver-side door and hit the man, pulling him out of the car and throwing him to the ground, police said.

When a 24-year-old woman tried to intervene, police said, Johnson ran over her foot as he fled in the stolen car.

Police later found Johnson and the car in the 200 block of North State Street, where they arrested him, according to the notice.

The 30-year-old man and the 24-year-old woman were both taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Johnson is set to face one felony count of vehicular hijacking and two misdemeanor counts of battery, according to the notice.
