BRIDGEPORT — There’s a new cheesesteak joint in the neighborhood.

Taking over the former home of Husky Hog BBQ, Gino’s Steaks Truck has opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 335 W. 31st St.

“We got a pretty warm welcome from the neighborhood,” owner Anthony Vidales said. “That’s hard to find.”

When Vidales took over the property last month, his crew spent a week — and a few all-nighters — whipping the kitchen into shape and painting the walls and facade Cheese Whiz yellow.

Over the past two years, Vidales — a DePaul University graduate, father of two and former pilot — has built Gino’s reputation as one of the city’s most popular food trucks, serving up fresh steak, chicken, vegetable and cheese sandwiches.

Owners hope Gino's is a hit when baseball season rolls around and hungry White Sox fans are looking for grub.

The new restaurant will offer the food truck’s signature sandwiches, fresh cut fries, soups and salads.

Here’s a look at some of the hits on the menu:

The Fatty, $12

This Gino’s mainstay is served loaded with steak, onions, peppers, homemade slaw, melted cheddar, crispy pom frites, homemade BBQ sauce and herbs.

Steak and Cheese Sandwich, $10

With Gino’s version of the “Philly,” you're in for a classic mix — steak, onions, peppers, melted cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickle, herbs and mayo:

Steak Fries, $9

This one's simple enough. Take Gino's fresh cut seasoned, add steak and smother the pile with melted cheese.

Gino’s is open from 11:30 a.m.-2 a.m. Mondays-Saturdays from 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays.
