THE LOOP — There's a new hope for "Star Wars" fans looking to see "The Force Awakens" Downtown.

The new 11-screen AMC movie theater atop the Block 37 mall began selling tickets for the latest "Star Wars" film Monday afternoon. Showtimes start at 7:15 p.m. Thursday and some are already nearly sold out, said John Gilbert, the theater's general manager.

Guests can order tickets online or in-person at the theater, 108 N. State St. The sales arrive one day before the AMC chain is set to formally announce "Star Wars" showtimes, and after many other theaters already sold out of opening weekend tickets. Tickets are $16.79 per adult, or $21.27 per for 3D showings.

"Star Wars" is the first blockbuster screening for the cinema, which is now the only big theater in the Loop. A so-called "dine-in" theater, it features a bar/restaurant and power recliner chairs allowing guests to order from a full menu without leaving their seats. The menu ranges from $12 burgers and $16 chicken baskets to $8 appetizers including crab-and-avocado sushi rolls and crispy brussels sprouts.

"Star Wars" showtimes run from 7:15 p.m. to midnight Thursday evening at the theater.
