ROGERS PARK — On Tuesday, residents will get the chance to learn about and weigh in on a proposal to revamp the residential property at 7522 N. Eastlake Terrace.

The Howard Street Beach-facing property, owned by Denis Detzel, a former Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 9th District, would first require zoning changes and approval from city departments.

The proposal shows a building with nine condos, all but one facing east. The plan would include seven lower-level private parking spaces, and five additional spots in the rear of the building.

The City Council would need to OK a zoning change that designated the property as a medium-to-high density building, rather than its current low-density status. It would also have to approve eight forward-facing balconies, which requires an administrative adjustment.

Finally, under the Lakefront Protection Ordinance, the building would need to be approved by the Chicago Plan Commission.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Rogers Park Ald. Joe Moore (49th) will hold the community meeting at Alden North, 7440 N. Sheridan Road, to discuss the project with residents.
