DOWNTOWN — The weekend forecast is warm, but the theme for Maggie Daley Park's first birthday party is Disney's "Frozen."

The Chicago Park District will celebrate the first anniversary of the newish Downtown park, 337 E. Randolph St., from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Activities include face painting, dancing, a "Frozen" costume contest as well as a screening of the 2013 animated film at the park's newly opened tennis courts at dusk.

It's a celebration of the kid-friendly park, which opened late last year and now features a popular skating ribbon, climbing wall and playground.

“In a relatively short time, Maggie Daley Park has become a top destination for residents and visitors near and far,” said Michael Kelly, the park district's superintendent and CEO.

Skating at the ribbon (skate rentals cost $12) is also on the schedule, despite forecasts calling for temperatures in the upper 50s or low 60s. Check the park's Twitter account for any updates.
