THE LOOP — The cookies and caramels coming out of the ovens at the French Pastry School aren't usually for everyday public consumption.

Starting Thursday, they will be.

The Loop school is setting up a pastry pop-up shop for five days in the pedway of Block Thirty Seven, 108 N. State St., home to Latinicity, the jumbo food court.

"Shop" is too strong a word, though. The treats, which will include chocolates and buttery sable cookies made on-site, will be free.

"We won't be selling any products," said the school's marketing director Susan Walker in an e-mail, "just giving out tasty samples for you to enjoy."

Students running the stand also will be handing out recipes and flyers with coupons for the school's continuing education classes.

The pop-up will be open from 2-6 p.m. Thursday. After that, the hours are noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and 7-10 a.m. Monday.

Walker said the Sunday and Monday hours could change; check Facebook for the most updated schedule.
