WICKER PARK — Looking for a holiday-themed sweater?

Once again, Ragstock has opened a dedicated shop for the kitschy sweaters, this year at 1351 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park, about one block south of the thrift store's main location at 1459 N. Milwaukee Ave., which also sells holiday sweaters.

On Sunday, shop clerk Khallid Hodge said this past Saturday was busiest day yet for the seasonal store, which opened after Thanksgiving.

Hodge who was wearing a vest appliqued with Christmas trees, said vests are especially popular with men and Hanukkah sweaters and sweatshirts are getting more attention.

The pop-up shop also features a few racks just for children's sweaters and a wall of accessories like reindeer headbands.

Hodge said most of the shop's sweaters range between $20 and $40, though some "deluxe sweaters" such as vintage, hand-knitted creations from the 80s can run as high as $75.

At Ragstock's main location, Pat Kelly, a Logan Square resident who said he plans attend two or three "Ugly Sweater" parties, was mulling over whether to buy a green sweatshirt featuring a crowded scene with Santa, reindeer and snowflakes.

"It's $24 and cheaper than a lot of the other ones," Kelly said.
