PORTAGE PARK — With city crews racing to beat the winter freeze, a project to replace century-old sewer pipes in Norwood Park is set to get underway, Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st) said.
The project will replace 8-inch sewer mains near Harlem and Peterson avenues in an effort to prevent homes in the Norwood Park West neighborhood from flooding, officials said.
Southbound Harlem Avenue will be closed from Devon Avenue to Talcott Avenue starting Tuesday. The project is expected to be complete Friday, Napolitano said.
Traffic will be re-routed west on Devon Avenue to Canfield Avenue and south to Talcott Avenue, officials said.
