Police Issue Community Alert in Morgan Park After 3 Commercial Burglaries

MORGAN PARK — Three commercial robberies in Morgan Park prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue an alert on Monday afternoon.

The robberies occurred between between 2–6 a.m. in the 10900, 11000 and 11200 blocks of South Halsted Street, according to police in the Morgan Park District.

In one robbery, thieves broke the window of the business, wrapped a chain around an automated teller machine and pulled it away with a car, police said.

The other businesses were entered by breaking glass or prying burglar bars. In one of the robberies, a surveillance video shows two men wearing hooded sweatshirts and driving an SUV, according to police.

The video was not made available to DNAinfo.

Two of the robberies occurred on Dec. 1 in the 10900 and 11200 blocks of South Halsted Street. The third incident happened on Nov. 29 in the 11000 block of South Halsted Street. police said.

The police department encouraged anyone witnessing any suspicious individuals or activity to call 911 and provide a detailed description, including a vehicle description and license plate information.
