PORTAGE PARK — Santa Claus himself will be on hand Sunday for the Irving Austin Business District Holiday Walk, which will feature a free showing of "A Christmas Story" at the Patio Theater.

The cult classic and holiday favorite will light up the big screen at the Patio, 6008 W. Irving Park Road, starting at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at nearby businesses, organizers said.

Before the show, St. Nick will take pictures with the young and young at heart in the former movie palace's lobby from 1-3 p.m.

Holiday music will play starting at 10 a.m. throughout the business district around Irving Park Road and Austin Avenue, where many of the storefronts have been decorated with Christmas-themed art work.

Artists and crafters will display their wares for sale, and stores will offer discounts to entice holiday shoppers.

While the event is free, attendees are invited to bring a new toy or gift card, which will be donated to local charities, organizers said.
