CHICAGO — Five people were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides since Thursday afternoon, according to police.
• Most recently, a 19-year-old man was wounded in an Austin shooting late Thursday, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. He was driving eastbound in the 5600 block of West Division Street at 11:55 p.m. when shots rang out from a dark car driving westbound, Pacheco said.
The man was struck in his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.
• Two men were shot in Austin Thursday afternoon, Pacheco said. Police found a 36-year-old man lying in the 5400 block of West Madison Street at 2:50 p.m. after being shot in his back, Pacheco said. Another man, a 41-year-old, was found across the street with a gunshot wound in his left arm, Pacheco said.
The 36-year-old was being uncooperative with police and is a documented gang member, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said. The 41-year-old was taken to West Suburban Hospital also in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.
• Two hours before that shooting, another man was wounded in Austin gun violence, Pacheco said. The 33-year-old man was shot during a fight in the 100 block of South Central Avenue at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Pacheco said.
He was struck in his right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.
• A 61-year-old man was shot when his Englewood business was robbed Thursday afternoon, Pacheco said.
