RIVER NORTH — Fremont, a new two-level bar with a retractable roof, will open Dec. 10 in River North.

A spokeswoman for Chicago-based Four Corners Tavern Group, which is behind the new watering hole at 15 W. Illinois St., confirmed Fremont's opening date Wednesday afternoon. Fremont, which promises "killer" brunch and live music, is replacing the shuttered American Junkie that closed in January.

Four Corners, a local chain that owns bars including Schoolyard in Lakeview and a planned restaurant in Maggie Daley Park, previously told DNAinfo Chicago that the bar's first floor will have "a lounge vibe," while the second level will feature two bars and a stage for live music and DJs.

The menu, which was not made available Wednesday, will include items ranging from Japanese-style fried chicken karaage to salads and sandwiches.
