UPTOWN — Critically acclaimed science fiction author Wesley Chu will read from one of his four books at the Chinese Mutual Aid Association's Open House/Giving Tuesday event.

Chu, a Taiwanese immigrant, authored "The Lives of Tao," "The Deaths of Tao," "The Rebirths of Tao" and "Time Salvager." The latter is being made into a movie by Paramount Pictures directed by Michael Bay. Chu has also won the John W. From 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, guests are invited to tour the facility at 1016 W. Argyle St., listen to Chu, meet young people involved in an after-school program, hear testimonials and enjoy Asian hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants and bakeries.
