WEST ENGLEWOOD  — A 26-year-old man died after being shot in West Englewood Saturday evening, police said.

Around 5 p.m., the man was standing in the 6600 block of South Marshfield Avenue when a man exited a nearby car and started shooting, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital after being shot in his hand and his stomach, Estrada said.

Tyris Washington, who lived on the same block of the shooting, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
