CHICAGO — Jontaye Walker, 23, was fatally shot in West Ridge early Thanksgiving afternoon, according to police.

Walker, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner, was in the 2200 block of West Thome Avenue at 1:20 p.m. Thursday when someone ran up and fired shots, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. Walker lived in the 6200 block of North Bell Avenue, according to the examiner's reports.

He was struck multiple times in his head and body, Lemmon said, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The shooter then drove off in a green Plymouth minivan, Lemmon said.
