WEST ENGLEWOOD — Shattered glass was the first thing a turkey delivery crew found at the 15th Ward office Saturday morning.

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th) is helping distribute three tons of free turkeys to residents in the ward at 2 p.m. at 1650 W. 63rd St.

He said he was notified by the company that the front door, which is made of glass, was completely shattered. Someone threw a piece of concrete through the main door of the building. There was also damage to the walls and desks inside the office.

He estimated there was at least $1,000 in damages, but nothing was stolen.

"I was shocked," Lopez said. "Thankfully, it was just vandalism. I'm very proud of the community. Many residents came to check on us."
