PORTAGE PARK — Hands to Help Ministries, which works to provide a safety net for homeless people on the Far Northwest Side and around Six Corners, will fill the cold air with the sounds of Christmas.

Small groups will bring holiday cheer to homes in Portage Park and Old Irving Park from 6:30-9 p.m. Dec. 14 by singing carols and collecting donations for the ministry, which is based out of St. John's Episcopal Church.

The ministry helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to find and keep housing. That could be as simple as helping folks who are struggling to make their rent payment or keep their lights on, group leaders said.

The carolers will gather at Irving Park Baptist Church, 4401 W. Irving Park Road, to learn more about the ministry and to get song sheets. After caroling, treats will be provided at the church.

Those interested in singing should register by Dec. 11 by emailing hthexecdirector@gmail.com.
