NORWOOD PARK — The story of a beautiful bookworm who falls in love with a hideous beast will come to life at Resurrection College Prep High School.

Students at the all-girls Catholic high school will perform "Beauty and the Beast," based on the 1994 Broadway production and Disney's 1991 animated feature film. More than 60 students are in the production's cast and crew under the direction of Resurrection theater arts teacher Mary Katherine Bohlander as well as theater and speech teacher Kathie Foszcz.

The production of the classic fairy tale of the adventurous Belle and the ghastly Beast — who is actually a young prince trapped under a spell — will include songs from both the Disney film and Broadway production, organizers said.

Aided by his lovable servants, who have also been transformed by the spell, the Beast must learn to love Belle and earn her love in return — before time runs out, organizers said.

The cast includes students Brianna Ortega as Belle and Dominick Cardella, a senior at Notre Dame College Prep, as the Beast, organizers said.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 and at 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Resurrection Little Theatre at 7500 W. Talcott Ave.

Tickets for the performance are $8. For more information, call 773-775-6616 or go to reshs.org.
