ENGLEWOOD — State Rep. Mary E. Flowers (D-Chicago) is holding an elected school board task force hearing Wednesday evening.
All are welcome. The meeting will take place at the Chicago Public Library Thurgood Marshall branch, 7506 S. Racine Ave., from 6-8 p.m. The community is invited to discuss why they would like to see a transitioning of Chicago’s currently appointed school board to an elected school body..
“In February, voters sent the message that the status quo is broken when it comes to education when they voted overwhelming to transform the Chicago Board of Education into an elected body,” said Flowers in a statement. “I encourage residents and organizations to come to this hearing to learn more about the measure, and voice their support or concern for this imperative issue.”
