UPTOWN — A 24-year-old man was hurt in a drive-by shooting in Uptown late Sunday night, police said.
Around midnight, the man was walking on the sidewalk in the 800 block of West Sunnyside Avenue when someone shot at him out of a passing gray car, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The man was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in his right leg, Estrada said.
No one is in custody, Estrada said.
According to the Tribune, police blocked off the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and Hazel Street with yellow police tape and a Toyota Yaris with shattered windows could be seen parked on Sunnyside.
"About half a block east, a blood trail from the wounded man stained the sidewalk and was cordoned off by another circle of yellow crime tape," according to the Tribune.
According to Uptown Update, readers reported hearing anywhere from 12-18 shots near the Clarendon Park area.
