WEST PULLMAN — A 22-year-old man was found shot to death early Monday afternoon in West Pullman, police said.

Around 2:25 p.m., police responded to a call of shots fired in the 300 block of East 120th Street, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. They arrived to find the man unresponsive in a vacant lot with a gunshot wound in the back.

The man has been identified as Mark Hayes, of the 100 block of West Brayton Avenue in West Pullman, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Paramedics pronounced Hayes dead on the scene, Pacheco said. Police initially said Hayes was 23-years-old.

Police said Hayes was a convicted felon.

No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
