DOWNTOWN — The Nutcracker, the tale about a little girl who travels to the Land of Sweets with a Nutcracker Suites, is a holiday favorite.

Locals may choose between ballet or non-ballet:

Joffrey Ballet presents the Nutcracker from Dec. 4 through Dec. 27.

This year will mark the last season for Robert Joffrey’s The Nutcracker. The Joffrey has commissioned Christopher Wheeldon to "re-envision a major new Nutcracker " which will receive its premiere here in December of 2016. 

Single tickets for The Nutcracker are priced from $32 to $136.  They are available at ballet’s box office in the lobby of 10 East Randolph St., as well as the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University Box Office, all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, by telephone at 800-982-2787 or online at www.ticketmaster.com

• The Chopin Theater, 1543 W. Division St., presents a ballet-free version of the show Nov. 5 through December 31st. Tickets are available here. Depending on the performance, tickets start as low as $15.
