COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Las Vegas man attacked an Alamo employee at O'Hare Airport this week after the worker refused to return a fake ID, prosecutors said.

Abdul Wilkins, 26, allegedly told police he was upset the manager "wouldn't give him his stuff back" and said he was carrying a fake ID "just like being a spy with a brand new identity," Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said during a bond hearing.

Wilkins had tried to rent a car at the Alamo desk early Tuesday using a Capital One credit card and a fake Georgia driver's license, according to Scaduto.

When a manager noticed inconsistencies between the card and license, he refused to rent Wilkins a vehicle — and refused to give back the fraudulent ID, prosecutors said.

That's when Wilkins punched the 45-year-old manager several times, Scaduto said.

Several employees detained Wilkins until police arrived, court records show, and Wilkins was arrested about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Wilkins, who lives in Las Vegas, is charged with battery and possession of an altered ID card.

Cook County Judge James Brown on Wednesday said Wilkins could be released on his own recognizance so long as the Cook County Sheriff's Office agrees to provide electronic monitoring.
