WICKER PARK — Calling all Detroit expats: Nonprofit organization Born and Raised Detroit Foundation is throwing its fourth annual Motown fundraiser in Wicker Park to raise money for youth sports in the Motor City.

All proceeds from Saturday's Motown Throwdown will benefit RacquetUp Detroit which uses the sport of squash, in combination with mentoring, to make a difference in the lives of Detroit youth.

This year's benefit party will be held from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at Chop Shop's 1st Ward Events, 2033 W. North Ave.

The foundation was started in 2011 by a group of young professionals who grew up in metro Detroit. While some of them eventually moved to other places, "there was this need, this passion, to stay connected to the place they called home," according to the foundation's website.

Over the past six years, the organization has raised more than $200,000 for nonprofits that help financially support causes throughout the city. Last year's event $35,000.

For the Chicago event, guests must be 21 or older and show up in cocktail attire. Live Motown band, DJ Juice Wayne & The Middle Class Crew, will be providing the entertainment.

Tickets ($100 in advance; $120/door or $90 for groups of more than 5) can be bought here. All tickets are non-refundable; 50 percent of the ticket price is tax-refundable.
