CHICAGO — A man has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed and killed a man in South Shore early Saturday, according to police.

Brandon Young, 43, was arrested and charged after he was identified by witnesses who saw him fatally stab a 43-year-old man in a South Shore residence Saturday, according to a police news release.

Officers responded to a battery in progress in the 7800 block of South South Shore Drive around 12:25 a.m. Saturday when they saw the man wounded in a second floor hallway, police said.

Dorian Smith, of the 8100 block of South Bishop Street, had been stabbed in his head and body and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:11 a.m. Saturday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner.

Police then arrested Young, of the 2200 block of East 102nd Street, after witnesses identified him as the attacker. He has been charged with first degree murder and is due in bond court Sunday.
