PILSEN — A staple in the Chicago pizza game is coming to 18th Street in November.

Giordano's will open its next restaurant at 1401 W. 18th St. in Pilsen with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 9, a company spokeswoman confirmed this week. Known for its Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, the restaurant will offer delivery and carryout.

The restaurant's signature sign is already up at 18th Street and Blue Island Avenue. The dining room will seat 50 and offer the same menu as other Giordano's locations.

Giordano's first announced plans to move to the neighborhood in August.

Giordano's isn't the only deep-dish pizza purveyor moving to the neighborhood. Earlier this month, Gino's East also announced plans to open a Pilsen restaurant, but owners haven't revealed a location or open date.

Ald. Danny Solis (25th) said the opening of two new pizza restaurants will be "a good thing."

"There's a lot of economic vitality that these two pizzerias will bring to the neighborhood," he said.

The first Giordano's opened on the South Side in 1974. The Chicago-based chain operates locations in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Florida.
