NORWOOD PARK — A man tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl walking home from school Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The teen was walking at 3:15 p.m. in the 5900 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue — just a few blocks from Taft High School — when a man got out of a newer model black pickup and tried to hug her, police said.

When the girl broke free, the man pulled the teen's shoulder but she was able to break away and run away, police said.

The man drove away southbound on Milwaukee Avenue, police said.

The man was described as between 35 and 45 years old, between 5-foot-7-inches tall and 5-foot-10-inches tall. He has a large bump on the bridge of his nose, was unshaven and had acne along his jawline, police said.

The man wore a green jacket, brown knit cap and blue jeans. He spoke in European-accented English, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call detectives at 312-744-8261.
