Lakeview Man Allegedly Ran Red Light on Motorcycle, Killed Woman: Charges

CHICAGO — A Lakeview man has been charged with reckless homicide from a fatal motorcycle crash on Lake Shore Drive, according to police.

Charles Lyons, 20, of the 800 block of West George Street, was charged with a reckless homicide with a motor vehicle and aggravated reckless driving and received various citations, according to a Chicago Police news release.

Lyons was driving a motorcycle on Monday night when he didn't stop at a red light at Balbo and Lake Shore Drive, according to police. He hit two people, killing one and injuring the other.

A 25-year-old woman, a German national, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries. She has not yet been identified as authorities seek to notify her family in Germany.

A 40-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition and was treated. Lyons was also taken to Northwestern for injuries he received during the crash.
