UPTOWN — The Chicago Cubs loss to the New York Mets broke a lot of hearts around the city, but it had one alderman feeling especially "blue."

Last week, Ald. James Cappleman (46th) entered a friendly wager with New York City Council Member Vincent Gentile over the National League Championship Series. As a stipulation of that wager, after the Cubs loss the alderman was forced to tweet a picture of himself in a New York Mets T-shirt and send Gentile some Chicago-style hot dogs, according to the alderman's website.

The two formalized the wager with a phone call last Friday. If the Cubs had won, Gentile would have had to tweet a picture of himself in Cubbie blue and send Cappleman a cheesecake from the famous Junior's in Brooklyn.

According to Cappleman's website, Gentile undersold the prowess of the Mets and took a dig at the cursed North Side team stating during the conversation: “The Big Apple will rise to the occasion and the Metropolitans will defeat the Chicago Cubs in 7 games. No goats needed.”

Cappleman said that the photo was Photoshopped and he did not paint himself blue after the Cubs loss Wednesday at Wrigley Field.

"It was a fun bet," Cappleman said Thursday night, adding the office was still receiving some of that beloved cheesecake.

Now, that's some big city politickin'.
