LOGAN SQUARE — The first 1,000 kids at this weekend's Pumpkinfest will get a free pumpkin to take home.
The popular annual festival attracted more than 2,000 people last year — so get there early on Saturday.
The event is being held at Unity Park, 2636 N. Kimball, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Activities include a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, face painting, kids' costume parade, "puck-in-fest" hockey station, a DJ dance party, popcorn and more.
The event, which is being hosted by the Unity Park Advisory Council, kicks off with the pupkin patch and decorating at 10 a.m. along with spooky tunes from DJ RebelX.
The costume parade will be lef by Logan Square's Chicago Drum Battery, an American Samba drum and percussion ensemble from noon until 1 p.m.
The Chicago Hockey Initiative's "puck-in-fest" hockey zone will run throughout the event as well as a calligraphy station and activity table.
Pumpkinfest 2015 is sponsored by FoodSmart Urban Market.
