CHICAGO — The White Sox have started honoring the 10-year anniversary of their 2005 World Series championship on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The team will continue to do so as it nears the actual anniversary of the night they claimed the title: Oct. 26, 2005. What those social media postings will be is a "surprise," said Scott Reifert, the team's senior vice president of communications.

"We started to run some things on Twitter and Instagram [Thursday] night in connection with the anniversary of Game 1," Reifert said Friday morning. "To provide anything to you in advance would kinda spoil the surprise, so to speak, as we close in on Monday."

The Sox swept the Astros in four games to win the World Series, capping their series sweep with a 1-0 victory on Oct. 26. It was their first title since 1917.

The team recently congratulated the Cubs, who haven't won a World Series since 1908, for advancing to the NLCS with a message on the video billboard outside U.S. Cellular Field.
